Old Tree.
Yonder stands tall lonesome tree
With its boughs a spread for thee
Gathered in serenity
Splendorous in its majesty
Watching o’er the landscape of the sea

Endless waves lap on the shore
Wearing away what was before
Cannot then restore
The relentless tug of war
Seventh wave seeks to explore

Clouds take on new form
Obscuring light when filling storm
Tumbling together then reform
Never ever uniform
Like the task they seek to perform

Ships pass by in the night
Seagulls swoop in sheer delight
Dawn brings early light
The fishing fleet in sight
Saving labour fulfilling appetite

So lonesome tree sees all
Seeing each and every season fall
Withstands natures call
The belle of the cliff top ball
Gnarled and lashed still standing tall
