Stripey Ants
Over in silver birch wood
Behind the leafy glade
Some ants were having a picnic
Of toast and marmalade
Down in the wooded hollow
Winter decides to leave
Other ants play follow me follow
Gathering up dead leaves
All waving in orderly fashion
No time to stop or rest
A leafy wand procession
Little ants in stripy vests
Nipping claws at the ready
Soldier ants keep guard
Check every ant that passes
No stripy vest you’re barred.
The picnic time is over
Grab a leaf and join in
One has a four leaf clover
Every ant starts to sing
We’re woody ants in stripy vests
That’s what we’re doing here
Carrying leaves back to our nest
Every day of the year
