Mr. Fox.
I’me running, running for my life
The hounds are chasing me
I have to think outwit and stay alive
Leave them barking up the wrong tree

They’ve surprised me in the open here
Miles before the nearest cover
I’ll have to move fast or I very much fear
The taste of my flesh they’ll discover

Breath gasping heart pounding
Racing across the field
My speed to me is quite astounding
But I dare not slow nor yield

I’me running, running for my life
The hunt is after me
I have to think outwit and stay alive
Send them the wrong way you see

A five foot hedge jump over and gone
The same a ditch across a ploughed field
Things I’ll remember but always run
Then I can backtrack with all fear stilled

Phew I’ve seen my brother ripped apart
When the hounds of the hunt surprised him
A fox can’t make a mistake, but plenty of heart
Will win me the day once again

I’me running, running for my life
The hounds are chasing me
I have to think outwit and stay alive
And keep out of sight you see

Turn to the right across a meadow
Take a breather in a ditch
Two more turns with luck my shadow
I am hoping is all they’ll catch

Bugles blaring horses rearing
But I think I’ve got them beat
I’me turning now doing some thinking
Sent them the wrong way that’s neat

Not long now I’ll be in my own patch
These hounds don’t stand a chance
Take twenty fifty a hundred wont catch
A fox that’s filled with romance

I’ve ran, ran, ran for my life
And I’ve got clean away
I’ve thought outwitted and stayed alive
To run again one day

My dens in sight I’me home and dry
They’re miles away chasing the wind
They’ll sniff around and wonder why
They never caught me on the bend

Home they’ll go dejected foe
And try again someday
If only I could let them know
The odds are against their way

I’ve ran, ran, ran, for my life
And left them chasing a ghost
I’ve out thought them and stayed alive,
So here’s to you mine host
