I Will Return
My train pulls away from the station
On the platform you turn and go
I look into the distance
Hoping my thoughts won’t show
The smoke brings tears to my eyes
As the wheels bite the line
England’s foes are calling me
Saying you are mine
It’s sighing in the wind
Whispering you are our sons
The offensive is on now
Waiting for the guns
I left my heart in miskin
With a passion that has bled
I left my heart with you
As I kissed your lips so red
It will be hard for us
The time I am away
Our memories will keep us safe
With us every day
Do not live in dread or fear
For that knock upon the door
No telegram will say
He has gone for evermore
There will be a homecoming
We’ll be together again
All the things we planned
In sunshine and in rain
For every season following
There’ll be laughter in mynydd maendy
I will return to you
No matter where they send me
