M.I.A.
Now gone the life
That once enthralled
Across English fields
In hallowed halls
Laid bare on wastelands
Of another shore
Where stout English heart
Be for evermore
We who remember
Those pleasant days
Of idyllic summers
And winning ways
Speak amongst ourselves
At gathering times
Alone together thoughts
Ring memory chimes
When these are centred
On those we love
Whose last breath sought
Inheritance from above
It’s not the leaving
What is left behind
In hearts and minds
Of those entwined
Whose faith is resolute
Steadfast their prayer
Strength wept in tears
For those lost out there
And flowers left on
Memorial graves
May soothe the pain
Of who wish be saved
