Under Fire.
Under fire from dawn till dusk
Long day resolve near broken
Came Johnny Ghurkha through the dust
And nay a word was spoken
Crawling in through enemy lines
Risking life and limb
Dodging bullets bombs and mines
Chance to succeed was slim
Came then the morning light
He took his wounds but twice
Came Johnny Ghurkha in the night
No thought his life to sacrifice
Repulsed was the funeral pyre
Away that resolute dugout
Carried then from fields of fire
By fearless soldiers stout
Medals won were on parade
For bravery in the field
For Johnny Ghurkha true accolade
A cross Victoria shield
Honour owed in every campaign
Those heroes never mention
For loyal service to the empire again
Who has refute their pension
In new wars theatre of light
When souls are trapped and broken
Johnny Ghurkha will come at night
And nay a word be spoken
