One Day In June.
My darling you are late
Come quickly all is prepared
The men will take care of the car
Do not worry the task is shared
There’s a ticket for the Oreeans train
Held in the blind mans hand
He’s standing on platform eight
Next to the newsreel stand
Go collect it I will wait
There’s no time do not delay
The station is full of supplies
We have to strike today
The charges have been planted
Set and primed are the mines
We now await the signal
To take out all the lines
The free French forces are armed
With rifles and grenades
You have to leave before the band
Plays the last serenade
Talk enough is over now
Or the train will surely go
I do not want you in the crossfire
Of French and German foe
The swastika will be torn down
Above Fontainebleau station today
Many here will perish
The oppressor will not have his way
The last whistle is blowing
Come step into the carriage
All hell will break loose as the band stops
Unleashing such a barrage
Who will survive I know not
Casualties on both sides
A thorn in the side of our enemy
Our nation must have its pride
The train is now leaving the station
The band plays down its last tune
Your smile and wave give courage to me
On this beautiful day in June
